Sherman Thomas STEM Academy is proud to be the newest member to the Sherman Thomas Charter Schools family. We are a 6th-8th grade middle school with a focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. We are proud of our “older siblings” in the family and would like to take the opportunity here to briefly share about each of the other two schools within our organization.

Sherman Thomas Charter School first opened in 2003, as a K-6 elementary school. In 2004 they added a 7th grade class and in 2005 an 8th grade class. In 2016 they added an afternoon Transitional Kindergarten (TK) class and will continue to run one class per grade level, TK-8. In the spring of 2014 we proudly became a California Distinguished School. We have an active Parent Advisory Council and a strong volunteer base of support. Sherman Thomas Charter High School is a classroom-independent study hybrid program that first opened in 2009 with 12 students and 2 teachers. Today, the school has almost 70 students and four full time teachers as well as support staff. We have a student council, are members of CSF, have a 6 year WASC accreditation, A-G courses in all core subjects (including foreign language and art), offer 12 Advanced Placement courses, and offer a college enrichment program whereby students can take courses at Madera Community College Center to receive dual credit, beginning their junior year.
